Last May 6, 2018, our friend and housemate, Caren found a cheap flight from JetStar going to Phuket, Thailand which cost us S$173 each. I do not know anything about Phuket. But when I searched the beaches in Phuket, I found out that one of the best movies I watched when I was in College was shot there; “The Beach”, starring Leonardo Di Caprio.

It is my dream to travel the world and see the beauty of God’s creation. Part of my journey as an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW), is to travel nearby countries outside Singapore. I prefer beaches and nature because it gives me life, adventure, and happiness.

So my niece (Nina), Caren, and I decided for a 3 days and 2 nights (3D2N) travel to Phuket from September 21-23, 2018. Primarily we stayed at Patong.

Here is my blog story for during our travel to Phuket Thailand from Singapore.

Day 1 (September 22, 2018) – Arrival to Phuket, Thailand and Hotel Check In

After our last day of the week work, we headed straight to the airport.

From Singapore Changi Airport terminal 1 we left Singapore at exactly 9:00 in the evening and we landed Phuket International Airport at 10:30. We do not have car booking. We assume that it would be cheapest for us if we will find a grab or a taxi in the airport. At first we tried grab but it cost us around 1,000 Baht. So we decided to find a taxi.

Outside the airport you will see two booths for taxi. You have two options. One is a private car or taxi which cost 800 Baht. The other one is 180 Baht for mini bus which accommodates 11 passengers. It looks like a L300 van in the Philippines. We chose 180 Baht.

On our way, we computed the difference between the two options I have mentioned above which is around 84 Baht only. Upon computing, we should rent the 800 Baht private car. For comfort and convenience I advise you to get the private car because we waited up to past 11:00 before leaving the airport. The driver face is not approachable that time. He wants us to be in hurry then when we were inside the vehicle, there are two more seats vacant that time that takes us to wait a little bit longer. We left the airport though the seats are still vacant.

When we are heading to Patong for about 5 minutes, the driver received a call and he needs to go back to fetch another two passengers to occupied the vacant seats. We just calm that time though I am little bit annoyed. Honestly we are tired.

When we are near our hotel in Patong, we stopped at the travel agency connected with the mini bus. They offered a travel package and get our hotel name. My niece went down, but she refused the package because we booked a tour already on the following day.

Andatel Grande Hotel

Andatel Grande Hotel

From the travel agency, we were the first one who reached our hotel.

We booked our hotel using Agoda. That was Andatel Grande Hotel which cost us S$55.00 for two nights. The hotel is divided into two ways one is A and B. We checked-in past 12:00 in the morning. The male reception got a copy of our passports and embarkation card.

The reception of the hotel is very simple.

I entered my room, B205, at 1:00 am and took some photos. This hotel is the biggest room I have checked-in in my entire travelling this time. It has big bed with the small sofa bed beside with an overlooking of the pool. There are so many towels; two whites, two greens, one foot towel, and another two face white towels.

My room includes safety deposit box which I didn’t use, a wall mounted TV which the channels on the list are not updated (but it’s ok I am not into TV), a menu for their restaurant, two bottled water (they give you 2 bottled water everyday), two coffee with two cups and saucer, hair drier, water heater, wardrobe or cabinet, two soaps, one shower gel, one shampoo with conditioner, and two cotton buds. The only thing they don’t have is toothpaste and the lift button going down is damage. We need to use the stairs. But overall the room is ok.

I slept late 2:00 am.
