Price-quality ratio is definitely one of the most important parameters of the purchase, and if we only buy stuff we need, all our spending problems is solved! (Wow in theory this is so easy). But, how not to buy something that is on sale, right? “This is a special opportunity to buy it, even though I don’t need it very much… but look how much it costs before?!“ We all said that once.. or million times! But I am sure that sometimes when you bought something, you regret it as soon as you get home. Been there, done that!

I know it’s hard to stay calm despite all these discounts and attractive offers. What would happened if I told you that merchants are using the knowledge of psychology to attract you to buy something you don’t even need?! Would this be enough for you to start spending your money more carefully? One of the tricks (for which you may not know) is to use the fragrance and the music to keep customers longer in the store!

The research says that fast music accelerates consumers! Then they move faster through sales space, they eat faster and they buy more for less time, unlike when easy going music is on. There are also studies that claim how nice fragrant space leads to a longer stay in the store and greater tendency of spending! Wow! So, the next time you go shopping, clog your nose and ears! If only is that simple…

For start, you need is to be clear with yourself. Changing the relationship to money brings some changes that are more permanent nature. Here are 5 great tips how to save your money and spend smart:

1.Start to analyse

… by cleaning your closet: is there any stuff that you (almost) did not wear? Separate the things you don’t want anymore and give them to some charitable association. This way you will become aware of your real situation: it’s not that you have nothing to wear! Make the decision that this season you will not buy any new stuff! Excessive spending is a bad habit and you will need a lot of self control to stop doing that. Give yourself time and step by step you will reach the goal!

2.Start with a savings plan

If you have a debt, you want to reduce it, right? If you have kids, you want to enable them to go to college one day. So, by saving for something that is more valuable, you will feel that you have managed to overcome a bad habit. Just ask yourself, “What do I want to achieve?”

3.Bring self-discipline into your life

Figure it out, what makes you to spend the most, and then avoid situation and moods like this!   When it comes to excessive spending on the card, the solution is simple: You need to stop using the card! Do the following: Limit your going to places that inspire you to spend more!

4.You need to control your money not the way around

Do not let money to control you by bringing you into an instant ecstasy, followed by guilty conscience. Determine your weekly limit and your spending plan. Keep track of everything you buy and stick to the budget. Avoid unplanned purchases. In the case of high debt it is strictly forbidden to spend the money you do not have. A good tip is to leave the decision to settle for seven days, and then, if you still believe that this purchase is necessary – buy it!

5.Call yourself on responsibility

It’s amazing how much easier we respect our decision if we have promised it to somebody! You should make a promise to someone you trust and whose opinion you appreciate! Then, not wanting to betray the confidence of this person, you will not betray yourself.

Extra shopping tip from me: Before you go shopping, take a good look at your closet! Check out what you have the least and what is the most needed. Anything else is not an option to buy! Trust me, you will be proud of yourself!

It is difficult to know the true value of the money when it represents something else for each of us. What I know is that we should not spend it out of our capabilities. We should know how to spend smart. As well as in everything in life, here also it’s important to find balance between what we need and what we want!
