Waking up for some people is the hardest part of the day. Whether you said it yourself or heard it from someone else, you’re probably familiar with the phrase “I love sleeping”. Sometimes after a long day of work there’s nothing better than climbing into your comfy bed and falling asleep. Which is exactly why people find it so hard to wake up in the morning, who would want to leave such comfort? But, is sleeping longer than you need to good for you? Is five more minutes staying on your bed really worth it?

Get Up Earlier

As with most things, I look towards entrepreneurs for my answer. Many successful business people are constantly asked for their daily routines. How do they possibly get so much done? The answer is almost always some variation of getting out of bed and doing it early. Say you have to leave for work at 8 am, maybe you wake up at 7 am to give yourself enough time to eat breakfast and get ready. Almost every interview with an entrepreneur that I have read, suggests getting up an hour earlier than that.

Don’t hit the snooze button

Let’s start with actually getting up. You’ve set your alarm, you’ve prepared a morning routine but all that goes out of the window if you don’t actually wake up. Don’t hit the snooze button. Wake up as soon as your alarm goes off and get up. It’s rough and it won’t be easy but by the time you’ve made yourself a coffee and washed your face you’ll be ready to go. This is the simplest and most effective way to change your entire morning from dragging yourself to work, to arriving fresh and ready to go.

Go For a Run

Going for a run already sounds like many people’s worst nightmare. But the act of going for a run or going to a gym before you get on with your day every morning could literally change your life. On top of becoming healthier and fitter over time, each and every day will become more productive. The more you accomplish during the day, the sooner you can achieve all of your goals and life the life you dream about. Except now, it’s real.

Eat the Right Meal

Finally, the food you eat plays a massive role in how your day plays out. It might be easier to grab a slice of toast or a quick snack but how will you feel come lunch time? One top recommended breakfast is egg. On top of reducing calorie intake, stopping you from getting hungry, they provide long term health benefits such as reducing heart disease risk and providing choline, a nutrient that will greatly benefit your brain and liver health. Fruits, oatmeal, protein shakes and Greek yogurt also produce the energy you require with their own unique health benefits. Do yourself a favor and eat a healthy breakfast to ensure that you spend your day full of energy without the need to snack.

These are the many things you can do to increase productivity, become healthier and live a fuller, and have a better life. They are never easy but as people say, nothing worth doing is easy. Even if these ideas seem like they will be too difficult, try it for a day, try it for a week, then for a month. Then see and you might be surprised with the results.
