Do you know who you are? We previously looked at our identity in Christ. Now we can look at how we are to walk or live now that we are heirs of God.

We live at a time when revelation is no longer the problem. God’s word is readily accessible in most if not all places in the world, except the unreached people. The problem lies with our acting upon God’s word.

Our sonship is triggered by our response in faith to what God says, then walking day by day in the promise of God. Here is a quick example: Do you know of any scripture that talks about healing? If yes, how often does it work for you when you are unwell?

Away from that, what is the sign that God has given us to prove that we are His? Let us focus on the most prominent one:  The Spirit of God.

Scripture says, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” (Romans 8:14)

Also, Paul taught that the Spirit bears witness with our spirits that we are the Children of God. (Romans 8:16)

The Spirit of God is the seal that we got from our Father in heaven to mark our identity. The Spirit guides us in all truth (John 16:3) and reminds us of the teachings of God’s word. (John 14:26)

Have you ever wondered where a spontaneous memory of scripture comes from when you are in a specific situation?

Because of the Spirit, we as heirs have freedom. Paul taught that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Imagine this: A prisoner was bound in chains and locked up in prison. One day, spontaneously, the chains were broken, and the prison doors opened wide. No one stopped the prisoner from leaving and walking free. The prisoner had two choices: stay in jail or leave.

As believers, this is what exactly happened to us once we surrendered to God. The Spirit came in us to set us free from ALL bondage of sin. Sickness, Pain, Lack, name them! But now, the choice is ours. Do we stay in prison or do we leave?

In simple terms, we believed the Gospel; then God adopted us, then we were sealed and marked with the Holy Spirit, and now we can live and walk in freedom.

Every time you face such difficulties, remember who you are!
