Do you remember when YouTube first appeared? It was reserved for music and short movie clips only. After some time, there was a real invasion of vlogs. Whoever responded quickly and recognized the opportunity, had a gift to capture the content, benefited from the vlogs. Now it much more difficult to point out. The content must be better, have more quality and more interactive with the viewers (not to forget and more fun) than ever before.
Vlog is a video blog that has had a great growth in recent years. It is a much more expensive investment than a blog, so the video of bad quality does not pass at all! Famous vloggers have backup equipment in case something goes wrong. If they make a video with bad camera resolution, they would be attacked from all sides. The sound is poor in this case because the microphone is lacking, the lighting can be bad and the wind can spoil everything.
So, if you want to try out with the vlogs, first invest in a quality camera and tripod! You should learn everything you need to learn about video editing, and to make sure that the lighting is good and the sound has high quality. A good laptop is must have! An additional hard drive is always a good idea because work with video requires a lot of space.
Vlogging is not for those who are shy and timid. You need to be prepared to give all of you to all of us – the watchers. (Or at least to those few people who will watch your video at first). You will have to be ready for possible criticism because people will be happy to write them to you. Today is more often that people will say something mean to you just because they had a bad day. It’s not ok, but it’s better for you to know how brave and judgemental people can be behind the keyboard.
You could succeed as a vlogger if you have these characteristics :
- You love to talk
- You love to be in front of the camera
- You have no jitters
- You are cheerful and always smiling (a positive attitude always attract attention but on YouTube in particular)
- You enjoy video editing
- You can afford better equipment than the phone
- You are patient – because you will have to repeat some scenes several times
- You want to learn and improve yourself
- You love interacting with viewers and other vloggers
- You can take a critique without tears
Video is an excellent and effective way of promoting, especially when it comes to people who already have blogs or businesses. The goal is to interest many people and make customers out of them. It is especially effective to make them when you are involved with fashion, travel, cosmetics, cooking, cars … all other areas can fit nicely into the video, and it only takes a little creativity and the desire to create interest video content.
Besides all that, you have to have a mega star mentality. You have to enjoy shooting yourself, watching the camera, laughing in the camera! Not feeling weird, bad or shy if you walk in the street and record yourself while people are watching you. You have to be open and get rid of the shame.
My advice to you would be to not go into this adventure with dollars in your head because you might be very disappointed. The point is to have fun and enjoy what you are doing!
