King Saul had a tormenting spirit in him that affected his lifestyle. He called for David to play the harp and he was relieved. Such is the amazing way which God can use a song to remind us of His presence in our lives, and that He still cares for us.
Here are two songs that get me through depression:
1. Hillsong – From the Inside Out
At one point in my life, I chose a life away from God. I was never satisfied. Life became tiresome and depressing. A friend sent me numerous music albums to listen to while in school and one of the songs just caught my attention.
I was reminded of God’s everlasting love in the bible. (Jeremiah 31:3) That His mercy remained even when I fell hundreds of times. Who does not wish to have this assurance? I was able to choose life again and gave God control.

God is a loving father who wants us to be free from the guilt and shame of our past mistakes.
2. Vashawn Mitchelle – Turning Around for me
How does disappointment feel like? I am pretty sure we have all been there. What about situations where things don’t work out? How do we cope?
I got overlooked for a job post that was previously given to me. Could you imagine the disappointment? However, my heart was at peace. I cannot explain how, but I was not overwhelmed by the situation.
This line came to my heart from the song, “It won’t always be like this.The Lord will perfect that concerning me.And sooner or later, It will turn in my favour.”
Guess what Psalm 138:8 says, “The Lord will perfect that which concerns my life.” And surely, He did. He always does this for us. Because He cares about us. God loves us all and wishes us to succeed and prosper.
