Chappelle’s Show

Netflix released the first two specials of the Chappelle’s Show in 2017. Though the skit vanished from Netflix, it came back following Chappelle’s lucrative deal with the streaming service. Fans of the original sketch show remember Dave as the brilliant standup comedian with his over-the-top yet brutally honest portrayal of real-life situations. So, sit back and get ready to have an unlimited dose of laughter with the show that inspired Key and Peele and many others.  

The Queen’s Gambit

The Queen’s Gambit is the latest quality show from Netflix. It is set during the Cold War era and captures the struggles of chess prodigy Beth Harmon. The series includes drug abuse, self-actualization, and romance as key themes. Filmmaker Scott Frank serves as a co-creator for the series. Cast members include Anya Taylor-Joy and Harry Melling.  

Masters of the Universe: Revelation

Masters of the Universe: Revelation is a modern continuation of the iconic He-Man animated series. We still can’t believe that it has been 40 years since the original He-Man series premiered. Time sure does fly. Masters of the Universe: Revelation captivates viewers with its superb animation and subversive storytelling. The first episode serves as the direct continuation of the original series finale.  

Filmmaker Kevin Smith serves as the showrunner of the Masters of the Universe: Revelation. The series features an ensemble cast of Chris Wood, Lena Headey, Mark Hamill, Susan Eisenberg, and Kevin Conroy to name a few. Part 1 of the series received positive reviews upon its release. The second part is expected to arrive later this year.  

Schitt’s Creek

2020 proved to be a great year for Schitt’s Creek. The Canadian sitcom bagged the 2020 Emmys Award in the Outstanding Comedy Series category. Schitt’s Creek beat the likes of The Marvelous Mrs. Maise and The Good Place in the said category. The sitcom is about a rich family that goes bankrupt and has to live in a small town they once purchased as a joke.  

Eugene Levy and Dan Levy wrote and starred in the series. Other cast members include Annie Murphy, Catherine O’Hara, and Emily Hampshire. The sitcom has received praise for its hilarious and heartwarming portrayal of the titular characters. All six seasons of the series are available on Netflix.  

Lucifer

Lucifer is one of the most popular series on Netflix. The first three seasons of the show aired on Fox from 2016 to 2018. Netflix took up the series in 2019 for its fourth instalment. The show received critical acclaim after its debut on Netflix in 2019. The streaming service released the two-part fifth season in August 2020 and May 2021. The sixth and final season of Lucifer is set to premiere on September 10, 2021.  

Lucifer follows the adventure of the titular character Lucifer Morningstar as he goes about to explore his new role as a civilian consultant to the LAPD. The series features an ensemble cast that includes Tom Ellis, Lesley-Ann Brand, Lauren German, and D.B. Woodside. Lucifer is based on the characters created for DC Comics’ now-defunct Vertigo Imprint.
